Meet Kayla Skipworth

Kayla Skipworth is a proud alum of PSVBA and is entering her fourth season coaching with the club. She brings a deep understanding of the game, drawn from both her decorated playing career and her coaching experience at multiple levels. In her time at PSVBA, Kayla has helped lead three teams to the Girls Junior National Championships, including one as a head coach. She is also a key contributor to the club’s Littles program, skill clinics, and seasonal camps, and is known for her intense focus, attention to detail, and high expectations for her athletes.

Kayla graduated from Curtis High School in 2020, where she was a four-year varsity letter winner in volleyball. She earned four All-SPSL selections, including two First Team honors, and was named to the WIAA All-State Team as an outside hitter. She also served as team captain and earned both Freshman Newcomer of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors during her high school career.

As a club athlete at PSVBA, Kayla helped lead her teams to eight consecutive Puget Sound Region Championships and eight straight bids to the Girls Junior National Championships. She was part of teams that won major events including the Pacific Northwest Qualifier and the Matt Hartner Memorial, and was named the Emerald City Classic All-Tournament Libero. She also excelled in the club’s beach program, earning multiple Seaside titles, induction into the Seaside Beach Hall of Fame, and qualifying twice for the Hermosa Beach National Championships.

Kayla continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level from 2020 to 2022 at Central Washington University, where she appeared in 117 sets and helped her team reach the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament before her career was cut short due to injury.

Currently, Kayla is in her third year as the Head Coach at Charles Wright Academy, where she leads the high school program with discipline, structure, and a high-performance standard. Her coaching is defined by a commitment to growth, competitive excellence, and pushing her athletes to reach their full potential both technically and mentally.
