Pat Taitano

Coach Pat Taitano is the Owner and Club Director of Puget Sound Volleyball Academy (PSVBA) and has upheld PSVBA’s reputation as one of the top club volleyball programs in Washington state for over 13 years. In addition to leading the organization, Pat has actively coached at PSVBA for the past eight seasons, developing a legacy of success both on and off the court.

Over his coaching career, Pat has personally helped over 70 athletes advance to play college volleyball, including NCAA Division I standouts and multiple All-Americans. His player-first approach is rooted in skill mastery, game IQ, and long-term development—and his results speak for themselves.

PSVBA Coaching Accomplishments:

• 7 bids to the Junior National Championships (4 National, 2 USA, 1 Freedom)
• 7 out of 8 seasons qualifying for Nationals (exception being the COVID-canceled 2020 season)
• 4X PSR Champions
• Pacific Northwest Qualifier Champions (18U)
• Southern California Qualifier Champions (18U)
• 2X Emerald City Classic Champions (16 Open & 18 Open)
• Back-to-back Matt Hartner Memorial Champions (16 Open & 18 Open)
• 3X Finalist at the Matt Hartner Memorial
• Multiple teams ranked #1 in PSR Power League
• 4 teams qualified for the elite Platinum League

Pat has established himself as one of the region’s most effective teachers of the game—building teams that not only win, but compete with discipline, chemistry, and a deep understanding of high-level volleyball.

High School Coaching Career:

Pat’s impact extends well beyond club volleyball. He has a proven track record of transforming underperforming high school programs into championship-caliber teams:

• Led Stadium High School to its first-ever WIAA State appearance
• Turned around Todd Beamer HS, leading the team to an NPSL League title and becoming the school’s winningest volleyball coach in just one season
• Guided Mount Rainier HS to its first WIAA State appearance in 20 years, finishing 6th in the state, and followed it up with a 4th place finish the next year
• Named 3X NPSL 4A Coach of the Year

Known for developing complete, all-around athletes, Pat emphasizes strong fundamentals, mental resilience, and team-first play. His high expectations are matched by his commitment to helping players reach their full potential.

Background:

Pat holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i and is a principal owner of J3NP Engineering. Outside of coaching and business, he enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family.
